What is Organic Food?
Organic refers to the way products are grown or raised and processed. Organic food is grown and processed without using conventional pesticides, herbicides or commercial fertilizers and cannot be irradiated or genetically engineered. Organic farmers strive to conserve soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Therefore organic foods are "earth friendly."
Does the USDA put a seal of approval on all organic foods?
The USDA organic seal may only appear on products that are 100% organic or contain at least 95% organic ingredients.
