Is Your Sunscreen a Potential Cancer Risk?

We scrutinize everything we put into our bodies-reading labels, checking food facts and counting calories. But what about what’s going on our bodies?

Sunscreens-like food-have ingredients listed on their labels. The common words that appear on these labels can be very scary-not only to say-but to understand what they actually do! Ingredients such as paraben, phthalate and petrochemicals have become the dermatological equivalent of high-fructose corn syrup, another words- harmful to the body!  These ingredients have been tagged as potential carcinogens.

Is there an alternative for those of use who love to play out in the sun, but don't want to be exposed to the harmful rays or harmful chemical in sunscreens?

The answer is yes!! Wax preservatives (such as paraben) and petroleum-based ingredients in sunscreens have been replaced with chemical-free recipes made with organic minerals, such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Both protect against UVA (the rays that age you) and UVB (the rays that burn you), and although they're not without critics, they're currently thought to be safe, skin-and earth friendly alternatives.

A few brands that are considered safe include:

Alba Botanicals

Badger Balm

Jason Sunbrellas

All Terrain

Just to name a few...Read those labels to rule out the use of harmful petrochemicals. Not only may they cause cancer but they are known to disrupt the body’s hormone making ability! So choose natural chemical free sunscreen…

Happy Sun Tanning !
