                  The Dangers of Stress

All of us are under some type of stress daily, causes can range from relationships, emotions, organ dysfunction, musculoskeletal and the environment. For most people managing stress is a daily challenge. One of the biggest complaints that people have is fatigue, but this is just a symptom or “sign” that your body is telling you needs to be addressed.

Below are just some of the dangerous effects of stress.

Body- Causes an increase in inflammation, which damages tissues and shortens life.

Immune System- Autoimmune such as Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, get worse. Resistance to infection decreases. Latent virus such as herpes, Epstein Barr, Lyme’s and Shingles become more active.

Mind- A decrease in mental focus and memory is experienced with stress.  Also noticed was an increase in risk for depression and pain perception with the increase of stress.

Heart- Cholesterol accumulation in the heart and blood vessels occurs more rapidly, which can lead to blockage and heart attack.

Gastrointestinal- Stress contributes to the Increase of Crohn’s Disease, risk of ulcers and of ulcerative colitis.
